Michael Mann Joins The 3D Elite?

Jim here. Sounds like Michael Mann wants to bring his cutting edge brand of filmmaking to 3D! If a suitable project can be lined up, he would surely join the ranks of our current roster of superlative stereo directors: Cameron, Jackson, Soderbergh, Burton, Zemeckis, Spielberg, and so on.

Here is what Mann told a crowd assembled for PUBLIC ENEMIES recently (via screenWEEK): "Yes! I’d love to shoot a 3D movie, it’s something that fascinates me! The more the audience is immersed the better it is!"

I love that he is not afraid to embrace something as new as modern stereoscopic 3D, especially in his mid sixties. Not that he couldn't do it, but it seems so many are stuck in a rut. Glad to see Michael Bay Mann is so enthusiastic! I am sure he will pull off an amazing project - soon I hope... Oh man, could you imagine HEAT in 3D? That LA street gun battle? Welcome aboard Michael!
