Here's an interesting and needed trailer to help tie together the aftermath of RISE and the beginning of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The narration and visuals tell the story of what humans went through in those 10 years. The more I see of marketing for the movie the more I have to see it the second it opens - on the largest 3D screen possible of course. Native 3D courtesy of 3ality Technica rigs and expertise!
Since 2011, the Simian Flu has swept across the world. Witness how things have changed for mankind since. A decade has passed since apes and man have come face-to-face. Now the two societies face a difficult choice between working together to co-exist, or battle to become the dominant species.
Here's the movie's storyline: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Seems DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is causing quite a stir internally at Fox as the studio has decided to re-up director Matt Reeves for the 3rd movie of the rebooted franchise.
This is great news for fans of the Apes Universe, including myself. Reeves (LET ME IN, CLOVERFIELD) is perfect to tap again for it and obviously he has taken well to native 3D using 3ality Technica's rigs. Let the man do it again and again I say.
From Deadline: "This time, (Reeves) will write the script with Mark Bomback, one of the writers who scripted the sequel. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were the scribes who resurrected the franchise with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the Ruper Wyatt-directed film that grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done and the writer deals are being worked out right now. It is likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio."

It's times like this that make me truly giddy to be involved in the business! WETA Digital just released the first look at the head honcho himself, Caesar from the upcoming James Franco starrer RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. And yes, that would be Andy Serkis in the clip!
...And I love that this first look is a movie clip and not a still photo!
What do you think? Imagine this and the action scenes in S3D! Wow. The detail is fascinating, I could watch this over and over and over.Look at the freckles, hair and bloodshot eyes! And a nice dolly move. Notice how the whole eye socket adjusts for movement?
You can see how far WETA Digital has advanced since AVATAR and KING KONG. Amazing!
More details when I get it! I will be sure to ask my sources about this development...
