TITANIC Hits Blu-ray 3D In September!

Finally we are going to be able to enjoy James Cameron's top two grossing movies (that just so happen to be the top two grossing movies of all time) in 3D and in our homes. We heard about AVATAR and now it's TITANIC's turn.

You can pre-order the Titanic Blu-ray 3D right now.

Here's the press release:
The two billion-dollar box office phenomenon and winner of 11 Academy Awards®, TITANIC, makes its highly anticipated debut on Blu-ray 2D and 3D on September 14, 2012 from Paramount Home Media Distribution and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Available in high definition for the first time ever, James Cameron’s timeless and unforgettable tour de force will be presented in stunning 2D and 3D, providing a cinematic in-home experience of TITANIC like never before. Marking 101 years ago today that the RMS Titanic was launched into the Belfast Lough, film fans worldwide can now pre-order the epic love story on Blu-ray 2D or Blu-ray 3D™ with participating online retailers.

Cameron commented, “Blu-ray extends TITANIC’s immersive 3D theatrical experience into audiences’ homes, where their living room becomes the backdrop for big spectacular environments and intense action, as well as profoundly intimate human moments, allowing generations of fans—new and old—to truly become part of the movie like never before.”

Presented in a four-disc 2D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with Digital Copy or, for the ultimate experience in fully immersive 3D, in a four-disc Blu-ray 3D and 2D combo pack with Digital Copy, this high-definition presentation of TITANIC is a must have for film fans’ home media collections. Both sets feature more than 2 1/2 hours of new bonus footage never-before-released on disc, including a fascinating in-depth exploration of the film with James Cameron, as well as documentary footage produced by National Geographic with James Cameron that brings the world’s leading RMS Titanic experts together to solve the lingering mysteries of why and how the “unsinkable” ship sank.

The sets also boast previously released special features including 30 deleted scenes, over 60 behind-the-scenes featurettes, a look at the groundbreaking visual effects, over 2,000 photos, three commentaries and much, much more. TITANIC will also be available for the first time ever for digital download.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the roles that would make them global stars, TITANIC tells the story of the epic romance between two star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the legendary and ill-fated maiden voyage of the “ship of dreams.”

TITANIC 3D: The Phenomenon Continues!

Here are the results from our latest poll and despite TITANIC being one of the most watched movies ever produced on the planet, 53% of you have already gone or want to go see it in 3D.

With those kind of numbers it's pretty clear why TITANIC 3D has raked up the numbers it has since it's release here as well as overseas. In fact, the movie made $157m in foreign box office and just this past weekend it hauled in $98m where two thirds of that was China ($67m) which is the highest opening EVER in the populous country.

TITANIC 3D has indeed passed the $2b mark. Yes, that b for billions - the new standard for Cameron films it seems. Only AVATAR with it's staggering $2.782b is higher.

If you haven't seen it yet, get out and do so while it's still on the big screen! Time is running out. Sure you can watch on your TV, but we all know the experience is not the same.

Two AWESOME New Clips Of James Cameron: "TITANIC Was Split In Two Like A Banana!"

Guys - check these clips out! Apparently these clips are part of a documentary that National Geographic will be airing soon. I don't want to spoil it for you guys - so have a watch!! :-) They're from a Norwegian site.

Here's the movie's synopsis:
Brock Lovett is a treasure hunter looking for a famous diamond among the debris of the Titanic. He finds a sketch in a safebox in which a young woman is wearing the diamond on a necklace. After showing the drawing on a TV program, Rose Dawson, an old lady comes forward claiming to be the woman in the drawing. She is brought to the explorer's vessel to help them determine the location of the diamond, but instead she tells everyone the "real" story of Titanic's sinking. She was a 17 year-old rich girl sailing to the USA to get married with Cal Hockley. Her mother was forcing her to get married so she felt trapped inside her own world. During the trip she tries to commit suicide and she is saved by Jack Dawson, a third-class passenger who travels around making pencil drawings. They get to know each other better until they fall in love. Hockley and Rose's mother try to separate them several times. Amidst all this confusion the Titanic hits an iceberg and starts to sink.

Here are the clips!

Gotta love it! Thanks for the anonymous tip whoever you were! If you haven't seen TITANIC 3D yet - get out and relive it. I was amazed at the new things I saw for what must be my 50th time watching it. The 3D conversion was amazing and the story? Well count all those Oscars... :-)

New Poll: Will You Be Seeing TITANIC 3D?

Let me know your thoughts! Personally I can't wait to see a premium 3D conversion of such a beloved classic movie.

My hometown is burgeoning with TITANIC historical events as Halifax, Nova Scotia played a key role in the story. Many of the perished are buried here and in fact James Cameron shot parts of his movie here. An interesting read is that eighty of the crew and cast became stoned after eating some spiked clam chowder. Curious? Read about it here.

I will be seeing it opening night. How about you? Is this your first time seeing the movie or first time in 3D? Don't really care? VOTE!!

TITANIC 3D opens April 4.

James Cameron Talks TITANIC 3D, AVATAR 2, PROMETHEUS And Further Conversions From His Library!

Oh man - what key questions this interviewer asked! Gotta love it. James Cameron got cornered for a few questions on the red carpet of the TITANIC 3D re-release and he had some cool things to say about the disaster movie.

Oh yeah, he mentioned a few tidbits about AVATAR 2, PROMETHEUS and whether he will be converting ALIENS, the TERMINATOR(s) and others from his awesome library. :-)

Check this out:

When this guy talks, you just kind of hang on his every word - you know what I mean? I can vouch for there being nothing yet to report on AVATAR 2 & 3 'cause my sources haven't been able to send me anything yet!

It's nice to know the AVATAR universe is next on his production plate though. More when I get it!! Thanks for the heads up EBostock!

WHOA. TITANIC 3D Valentine's Day Advanced Screening Crashes Servers; Sells Out In Hours

Yes you read that correctly. Fox and Paramount have decided to offer FREE Valentine's Day tickets to see TITANIC 3D well in advance of its April 6 start date. But good luck trying to find a ticket.

It only took a matter of hours to sell out the events in multiple cities around the world and in the process of doing so, crashed the servers granting the tickets. Keep in mind that these showings were not well known to the public at all. Didn't matter. We're talking TITANIC 3D here folks. The screenings will be in RealD.

If you managed to get tickets to one of these shows - let me know. I would be interested in seeing a scan of one of them - or a confirmation receipt!

Jim Dorey's Most Anticipated 3D Movies Of 2012!! Segments Native 3D, Conversions And Animations!

Here's our annual look at my Most Anticipated 3D Movies of 2012! Of course it is solely my opinion and I definitely want your thoughts in the comments.

First, let's review some notes. I struggled with THE GREAT GATSBY. I wanted it to be higher but I am just not sure yet of where it is going! It looks jaw-droppingly gorgeous and I really want this to be successful. Seriously. It should be higher in my list, but it is so hard to accommodate these things sometimes!

I really liked what I saw on set of UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING so it has been appropriately rated for my opinion. Yeah, it's pretty good - love the direction they took it for this iteration.

I have to say the animations this year are not in my face as much as other years. ICE AGE stands out from what I have seen of the preview clips but other then the 3D conversions of sure-fire hits like BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and FINDING NEMO (MONSTERS, INC is also being converted), there is not much I am truly looking forward to. BRAVE might surprise me because, well... it's PIXAR. RISE OF THE GUARDIANS could be a big hit for Dreamworks Animation.

What can you say about 2012? Exciting or what? Ridley Scott's return to not only Sci-fi, but the ALIEN universe! Peter Jackson's return to directing Middle-earth tales bringing 48 frames/second AND 3D (a story MarketSaw broke)! Marvel continues to wow us with their awesome lineup of super heros - THE AVENGERS are here! A new vision for SPIDER-MAN! I am dying to see GRAVITY and what Cuaron has in store for us - how long a take can he manage? And who cannot mention the painstakingly careful conversions that are finally ready for us in TITANIC 3D and STAR WARS I?

Let's get on with it! 2012 is here!!

Here's my list of the 8 Most Anticipated native 3D movies of 2012:

6. BRAVE (June 22)
5. FRANKENWEENIE (stop motion) (October 5)

3. RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (November 21)

4. JOHN CARTER (March 9)
3. TITANIC 3D (re-release) (April 6)
2. GRAVITY (November 21)
1. THE AVENGERS (May 4)

So here's my ALL-IN 20 Most Anticipated 3D Movie List in reverse order:
20. RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (Animation) (November 21)
19. MEN IN BLACK III (Conversion) (May 25)
18. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST 3D (Conversion) (January 13)
17. WRATH OF THE TITANS (Conversion) (March 30)
16. HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS (Native 3D) (March 2)
15. ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER (Native 3D) (June 22)
14. ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT (Animation) (July 13)
13. GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE (Conversion) (February 17)

5. GRAVITY (Conversion) (November 21)
4. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (Native 3D) (July 3)
3. THE AVENGERS (Conversion) (May 4)
2. THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY (Native 3D) (December 14)
1. PROMETHEUS (Native 3D) (June 8)

Honorable Mention (in no particular order) goes to JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3D, AMITYVILLE - THE LEGACY 3D, PARANORMAN, RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, LIFE OF PI, MONSTERS, INC 3D (conversion), HALLOWEEN 3D (not sure this is going to happen in 2012) and BATTLE ROYALE 3D (Anchor Bay has not given release details yet). Of these however, LIFE OF PI and BATTLE ROYALE stand out for me and hopefully RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION kicks it up a notch.

So let's watch as JACK THE GIANT KILLER defies GRAVITY. WITCH and VAMPIRE HUNTERS abound! We have nothing to DREDD! We have Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, George Lucas to entertain us this year. I'm loving it! 3D is on it baby.

And yes, it was hard to choose PROMETHEUS over THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. Very hard.

What are YOUR thoughts on 2012? :-)

New TITANIC 3D Featurette With James Cameron

Anytime is a good time to listen to the master storyteller of our time, James Cameron. And when he starts talking about "his baby", TITANIC, it's definitely amplified.

I'm enthralled to listen to him recount his days making the movie, why they decided to go with a 3D conversion and seeing that giant replica behind him of the ship.

I have to say that he looks and sounds quite tired (or sick) in this thing. He is definitely not himself and I have spoken with him many times. I think the man has been pulling wicked hours working on AVATAR 2 and 3 while trying to re-release TITANIC 3D as perfect as can be. I hope he can find the time to rest because there is only one Cameron in the world and no one can keep that pace up forever.

Check out this featurette of Cameron on TITANIC 3D!
