3D Geek Alert: Are You Ready For The Holodeck?

Jim here - thanks to a reader who didn't leave his name but thought this was cool - and we agree! Are we getting closer to a version of Star Trek's Holodeck or what? Take a look at this video clip highlighting the Airborne Ultrasound Tactile Display (AUTD) - it allows you to 'feel' objects in mid air that are not really there using ultrasonic waves - no gloves or special equipment required!

Now, imagine combining this tactile feature with a hologram or 3D projection and hmmm... Holodeck? Can we hurry up this invention and make it affordable? Seems like these things take forever. C'mon, we are on Internet time baby!
