If you loved the original SIN CITY, then it seems you will love SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, and isn't that what sequels are about anyway? More of the same type of experience? So if you like highly stylized, predominantly black and white, VFX locations and over the top characters then you are in for another treat. It looks amazing!

It's refreshing to see the SIN CITY treatment because it breaks the traditions of Hollywood and opens your mind to the endless possibilities of this genre and in storytelling.

Of course there is no shortage of talent lined up for this movie, starring Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta and Stacy Keach.

Two New Posters For Frank Miller's SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

Check two new posters for Dimension's SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. The obviously stylized posters are for the obviously stylized movie franchise but this time the movie will be in 3D - perfect for this genre based on the graphic novels of Frank Miller (300).

I'm actually much more excited about this movie because of the 3D than the original. Not surprising coming from me I know, but I really think that 3D will dramatically improve the audiences suspension of disbelief for this genre. Can't wait!

New Trailer For Warner's 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE

Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) stands out in this trailer for director Noam Murro's 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE. Stapleton's character truly existed in history and helped defeat the Persians at the battles of Marathon, Salamis and Plataea. So while Frank Miller's graphic novels are fantastic, a great deal of it is based on characters that did live and die.

Here's the movie's storyline:
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Warner Bros. Picture presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Cruel and Unusual Films/Mark Canton/Gianni Nunnari Production, “300: Rise of an Empire.” The action adventure stars Sullivan Stapleton (“Gangster Squad”) as Themistokles and Eva Green (“Dark Shadows,” “Casino Royale”) as Artemesia. Lena Headey reprises her starring role from “300″ as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo; Hans Matheson (“Clash of the Titans”) stars as Aeskylos; and Rodrigo Santoro stars again as the Persian King, Xerxes.

Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba are both confirmed to return to Robert Rodriguez's and Frank Miller's SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR --and-- it will be in 3D! It's going to be wild to see their unique way of shooting presented in three dimensions...

Look for the movie on October 4, 2013.

ORIGINAL CAST MEMBERS MICKEY ROURKE AND JESSICA ALBA RETURN FOR THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SEQUEL

Dimension Films announced today that the highly anticipated sequel FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will open nationwide on October 4, 2013. Casting is underway, with original cast members returning to work with directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, from their script co-written by Academy Award® winner William Monahan . Academy Award® nominee Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba are already confirmed to return.

The script and details of the film’s story are being kept tightly under wraps. The remaining cast will be announced shortly with some huge names expected to fill the roles of Sin Ciy’s newest characters yet to be seen on the big screen.

The original SIN CITY broke new ground with its iconic stylish look and grossed over $160 million worldwide. FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will not only bring fans back to the world that Rodriguez and Miller created, but will also add a new dimension by bringing their unique visual style to life in 3D.

The film will be released by Dimension Films in the US and Canada, and produced by Quick Draw Productions, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist.

Aldamisa International’s C.O.O. Jere Hausfater and President of International Sales and Distribution Nadine de Barros and will oversee international sales for this project at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film is expected to begin production this summer at Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Frank Miller's RONIN To Be Shot In 3D?

Jim here. Some exciting news for Frank Miller fans out there - there is a very real possibility that director Sylvain White will shoot RONIN is 3D! After he finishes THE LOSERS, White told SuperHeroHype: "It's still being developed - I just got a new draft a week ago. It's looking really good and promising. I hope it gets to go... [Mine is] a big-budget, big blockbuster take on it. I'd love to do it in 3D. I think it'd be ridiculous and amazing."

"I think it'd make a brilliant video game as well," says White, "something along the lines of 'Assassin's Creed' but from a first-person perspective. I think it's just a great property and a great concept. It's got so many ideas in it in terms of commentary and philosophy. Frank Miller is a genius when it comes to that. It took so long because the source material is so complex. It's very difficult, and it's not linear, and it doesn't really fit into a film format off the bat. It's not a straight adaptation like '300' was or even 'Watchmen.' It's not as simple. Zack [Snyder]'s going to kill me. [Laughs] But I think with 'Ronin' we need a little bit of streamlining, otherwise it's too esoteric. You need a little bit of streamlining, but the story and the characters, if I get to do that movie, will all be there. I'm the guy who wants to respect the authors and the source material as a fan of graphic novels who grew up reading them whether it be in Europe or here. It's something that needs to be done right, and it hasn't really been done right."

Sounds like White is taking the right approach here. I am very curious to see early results from this project - even just some behind the scenes snaps. I don't like the confusion with Robert DeNiro's RONIN (which I adore btw) or 47 RONIN, but we'll see what we get here...
