Watch: Edgy New Trailer For EVEREST !

Definitely a movie made for 3D! Some of these shots are simply spectacular.

We see some angles that would make Sir Edmund Hillary himself shudder I'm sure! I'm intrigued with the casting as well; looks like a wonderful performance from Jason Clarke. You can feel the obsession in them all.

Here's the movie's storyline:
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Everest is directed by Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) and produced by Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes and Kormákur.

Universal Pictures presentation of Everest is adapted for the screen by William Nicholson (Gladiator) and Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).

The film was shot on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecittà Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the U.K.

EVEREST opens in RealD 3D, IMAX 3D and flat on September 18.

PRINCE OF PERSIA In 3D!! Did You See That One Coming? AND NEITHER DID DISNEY

**SAME DAY UPDATE: *Sigh* Normally ComingSoon has a good reputation for stories but in this case - nope. Officials at Disney are now saying PRINCE will NOT be in 3D.

Ummm... Time for Disney to clean up their act a bit I would wager. Strike PRINCE from my list of must sees.

Jim here. In one of the better kept secrets ill-informed rep stories surrounding 3D projects of late, Disney surprised us with the announcement that PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SAND OF TIME will be screened in 3D for its release on May 28, 2010! This coming out of the D23 Expo today - Comingsoon.net has confirmed this with Disney reps.

I had wondered if Disney had the willpower to convert a major property that had already been announced in 2D (and it will still have 2D screenings) as they had started out from scratch shooting ALICE IN WONDERLAND in 2D and then added the third dimension. PRINCE was always going to be in 2D. Nice call Disney!

Time to pay a little more attention to this movie. Who's in this thing again? Joking. I couldn't be more thrilled - 3D conversion has clearly turned a corner here.

For those who haven't read up on the property, it is from the team that brought the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

This 3D conversion effort will truly test the mettle of the cutting edge technology as the special effects are bound to out duel G-FORCE (which was also a conversion). I am now officially looking forward to seeing this thing! :-)
