Oh yeah - this is going to be a seriously good movie. I said all along that I thought that CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER would be a better adaptation than THOR, but the way THOR performed I was amazed. So my expectations are sky high for the Chris Evans starrer.
I love behind the scenes looks and there are some great moments never seen before in this featurette along with some interesting banter from the team behind the movie. Rather than go on and on about it - check it out for yourself (I recommend 1080p!):

Have a look guys! I love the caption "Avenge". Perfect to bring on thoughts of how they are going to tie him into THE AVENGERS movie - AND - how he deals with the WWII content of this movie.
Plenty of guts and glory in this one it seems - flying dirt and his shield definitely looks battle worn!

WOW. Quite a bit to digest all at once, but here we have two first looks at major Marvel movie super heroes coming out!!
First up is the long anticipated SPIDER-MAN costume as worn by Andrew Garfield. It looks like a really fine leather texture of some sort of exotic creature. Lizard? As in The Lizard? ;-)

I like the suit. It is different enough to reboot the idea in my mind, yet keeps the aura about it. Keep in mind we don't know if the suit has been through some sort of tribulation prior to this photo - look at Garfield's face! A slash or two on his cheek.
Take note of the two discs attached to his wrists - seems to me to be the webslingers? It looks like he developed these himself (like the classic tales) as opposed to the Sam Raimi biologically formed webs. I am far in favor of Peter Parker inventing them - I was raised watching the original cartoons and it worked then. It'll work now.

From the site: "...The hero’s main uniform was designed to resemble a tricked-out airman’s jumpsuit, the “A” on the helmet and star on the chest modest in size, the colors muted. It took Evans about 25 minutes to suit up. “He likes to do it all by himself,” explained costume designer Anna Sheppard. “I think it helps him feel like a super hero.”
The HYDRA soliders behind him certainly look menacing! Kind of a cross between WAR MACHINE and SNAKE EYES :-)
I am really enjoying that the suit is believable for the era (cloth / leather mainly) and really has that WWII vibe going. Should be a spectacular movie!!

Love the 1940's era feeling in that control room! I think they have nailed it.

Some assumptions about the movie:
- It will mostly take place during World War II. We know he is frozen towards the end of it to bring him into the modern day world. It will be interesting to see how Joe Johnston accomplishes all this!
- Chris Evans (plays Steve Rogers aka Captain America) has signed on for 2 more CAPTAIN AMERICA sequels AND three AVENGERS movies!
- Most of you have seen the Captain America shield 'easter egg' in the first IRON MAN movie and that ties into Steve Rogers paying a visit to Tony Stark to outfit him with modern superhero attire.
- Captain America will be easier to integrate into the AVENGERS than THOR will be simply because THOR has a supernatural element about it that will be challenging to introduce to the 'realistic' Tony Stark world.
- Initially I was quite worried about having Chris Evans in the lead as I didn't think he had the bulk to pull it off. Well Mr. Evans has paid the price with the free weights and has added impressive size. Nothing to worry about now.
I am really looking forward to this film! Here's hoping the conversion is world class!!
More CAPTAIN AMERICA photos are leaking online from the latest set of the Marvel comic book adaptation; this time it's London's Trafalgar Square (check out previous set photos here). The scene is obviously related to VE (Victory in Europe) Day with period costumes, old newspapers and the Union Jack waving everywhere.

Apparently there was some shooting going on over at 10 Downing Street, near the cabinet war rooms as well. No shots of this as of yet.
Director Joe Johnston was on location for part of the day (these shots were from August 22) but THE FIRST AVENGER himself (Chris Evans) was not to be seen.
Storyline:
Based on the Marvel Comics character from World War II. A brave, yet mild-mannered young soldier named Steve Rogers, volunteers to undergo a series of experiments for a US army Super Soldier program. The military succeeds in transforming him into a human weapon, but quickly decide that their Super Soldier is far too expensive a creation to risk in combat. So, they decide to put him to use as an army celebrity and parade him across Europe to boost morale by performing in USO shows for American troops. He is even given a costume that bear the colors of Old Glory for the stage. Then, when a Nazi plot reveals itself Rogers must rise up and and become the First Avenger, in order to save his country. Steve Rogers becomes Captain America and he earns his way into the hearts and souls of every American, bringing hope and justice to a war-weary nation. Later, during a mission to Germany to stop his archenemy - The Red Skull, from launching rockets at the allies, Captain America sacrifices himself and winds up frozen in ice for almost six decades! Revived, Steve Rogers now must join forces with new heroes and become an Avenger of the modern age.
Look for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER on July 22, 2011 in 3D theaters everywhere. We are not into paparazzi shots here but if you are, here are some shots that DID have Chris Evans in them as he clubbed London over the weekend (Amy Smart was there too).
