James Cameron: "Titanic" a "Picnic" Compared to "Avatar"!

Michael here.  James Cameron is set to be inducted this Saturday into the Toronto-based Walk of Fame by Avatar star Sigourney Weaver.

Speaking from Los Angeles, Cameron told The Canadian Press that Avatar is "simultaneously the most vexing and the most rewarding type of production that I've done yet," saying that the complexity of the project makes Titanic "look like a picnic."

"It's this form of pure creation where ... if you want to move a tree or a mountain or the sky or change the time of day, you have complete control over the elements and the production design," Cameron said.

It's always great to read Avatar updates from Cameron. The incredible degree of creative freedom he has on this project--and the ability to keep so many aspects of a shot in flux until the last minute--bodes very well for those of us who can't wait to inhabit a fully realized alternate world on December 18, 2009.
