"The Gate" 3D Has A Director: Alex Winter

Jim here. Production Weekly has reported that Alex Winter (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) is now attached to a reboot of the original 1987 movie THE GATE.

We are fairly certain that it will also be shot in stereoscopic 3D - so all you 2D and 3D fans out there: "Be excellent to each other"!

Randall William Cook was originally thought to be helming the horror film (he actually looked after the FX for the first movie as well as FRIGHT NIGHT *which I loved* and GHOSTBUSTERS).

But word is Cook backed out when the producers wouldn't give him the power to change the script.

Also the movie may go by the working title of THE GATE: 20 YEARS LATER.

I think Winter would give us a refreshing view into this remake - and hopefully the words of the immortal Bill S. Preston, Esq do NOT hold true: "We are destined to flunk most egregiously". I am looking forward to hearing more about this project!
