CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Set For April 4, 2014
Marvel has announced what movie will fill the already announced date of April 4, 2014 - CAPTAIN AMERICA 2. Before now the date was simply an empty placeholder to hold off would be challengers from other studios.
Obviously Chris Evans is returning but little else is known about the sequel. There is no director attached yet, but I am hopeful that either George Nolfi (THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU) or F. Gary Gray (THE ITALIAN JOB) gets it from the current rumor mill list of suitors.
From Marvel: The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated Marvel’s The Avengers (May 4, 2012) leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.
Here are the upcoming Marvel tentpoles and their currently slated release dates:
- The Avengers on May 4th, 2012
- Iron Man 3 on May 3rd, 2013
- Thor 2 on November 15th, 2013
- Captain America 2 on April 4th 2014
- Untitled Marvel 2 on May 16th 2014 (THE AVENGERS 2 makes sense here I think)
No surprises thus far with Marvel's release dates. No ANT-MAN for example. But it makes sense to continue on with what works. Always a chance that HULK will make a serious run at the May 16th, 2014 date - but time is ticking on another ensemble movie with all those clauses in current talent contracts.
