First Theatrical Trailer For Disney's FROZEN

I had the pleasure of seeing footage from Disney's FROZEN at the Toronto International Stereoscopic 3D Conference this past weekend (more on that conference coming up!) and it looked amazing in 3D. The stereoscopic department head for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Robert Neuman, gave an in-depth review of the process that he has in place for his department - including a painstaking approach to ensuring the proper attribution of positive and negative parallax.

Obviously you can't see this footage in 3D here, but you will be in for a treat at the theater should they show it in a pre-roll for you. The trailer is below.

Four New TANGLED Photos!

Have a look at four new TANGLED photos from Pete over at /Film who landed the exclusive from Disney!

You have to love the 'gondola' shot as all those illuminated lanterns floating in mid air will make for spectacular 3D and the feeling of being immersed into this scene. And I have said it before, I am loving the round edges animation style!

Disney's TANGLED: Second Teaser Trailer!

Disney Animation has released the second teaser trailer for TANGLED and it is not half bad. In fact, I can see some Pixar influences in their work and I love it. Artistically, TANGLED should be a must see.

Storywise, directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard are brushing up the male lead's role in an effort to attract a male audience. RAPUNZEL was clearly a female-centric story - not so much in today's version.

TANGLED is set to hit 3d theaters November 24.

First Look: Disney's TANGLED!

The good folks at Disney are giving TV audiences a first look at their upcoming 3D animation TANGLED on Sunday night hosted by, you guessed it, the Disney Channel.

Disney already has 15 seconds of the movie exposed during a commercial to market the event which has made its way to this very post!

Disney's 3D Animation RAPUNZEL Now Entitled TANGLED

Jim here. I waited a bit to make sure this was on the up and up first as I thought that if Disney were going to rename a property they would have done so MUCH earlier. But that is not the case with RAPUNZEL according to Disney (via /Film).

Disney Animation has renamed RAPUNZEL to TANGLED. Word is they are doing it partially to alleviate fears that some young boys would be turned off by the title's perceived feminine name. Interesting point of view. Disney apparently has gotten a little shaken by the average return that THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG gave them ($101m domestic, $150m worldwide) when really they just have to release their movies in 3D! lol.

Seriously though, S3D delivers that extra box office that is very important to the studios' bottom line. While I understood what they were trying to accomplish with TPATF, traditional, hand drawn 2D cartoons may be a thing of the past for cinematic audiences. With each successive revolution of technology in Hollywood, old school animation gets further behind. You know, I really do hate saying that too. I have enjoyed watching Disney hand drawn animation all my life. But the young generations have not. That's something to keep in mind going forward.

RAPUNZEL TANGLED should be a nice hit for them. I cannot wager a guess at box office at this point, but suffice it to say it will do much better than TPATF. Stereoscopic 3D is one of those reasons.
