EXCLUSIVE: Source Update On AVATAR Sequels ! Something More Valuable Than Unobtainium !! More Worlds!

Ok guys - here's the latest on James Cameron's upcoming AVATAR 2 (nothing concrete yet on the others)! You know MarketSaw is best known for it's AVATAR and STAR WARS coverage, well we're continuing in that tradition today. First the STAR WARS update, and now AVATAR.

Pandora awaits, so let's dive into it (pun intended):

My source is in italics:
"The Avatar universe is progressing through various changes and stages. It's going to be the most ambitious post ever attempted. As I told you many years ago Stephen Lang is going to assume his iconic role again. In more ways than one next time out."
- Probably the most ambitious due to a combination of Cameron's scale and pushing the limits of his team and the effort it will take in post-production to handle 4K 3D in 48 or 60 frames per second!

"Suites are being upgraded to allow for a quicker post workflow, allowing the elements captured to be integrated into architecture in a less cumbersome load out, and allowing for more dexterity to be captured in real-time."
- Cameron's performance capture volume is going to be a thing of beauty! Would love to see shooting in action.

"There are going to be many battles, both above and below Pandora. Other solar bodies in the system will be explored too and will have interesting inter-connectivity. Big ideas, epic in scope, hard science, and the future military getting the green light to teach those naughty natives a lesson, only to stumble onto something far more valuable than unobtainium. It's going to be 'big' in all senses of the word, and that's just 2."
- Hello. Something more valuable than Unobtainium ($20 million a kilo)! What physical properties will THAT have? What fantastic environment will that create for us to explore? I love the hard science Cameron puts into his stories too. Of particular note here is the inter-connectivity between worlds! So an extension of Eywa? Something more sinister or a greater defense possibility against humans? A lot of questions. "Big" in quotes? Perhaps larger fauna for humans to deal with...

More when I get it! AVATAR 2 is slated for a December 2016 release.

MUST SEE: New CONAN THE BARBARIAN 3D Poster!

After seeing Jason Momoa in A GAME OF THRONES I can easily see why he was cast as Conan. I think he is a wonderful choice for the role. Did you know that he stands 6'4"? I had no idea. He doesn't come across that tall unless he is standing next to someone. That makes him the same height as Dwayne Johnson (and taller than Schwarzenegger). Hmmm, would like to see a movie with The Rock And Momoa cast against each other!

If you have a negative reaction to him as Conan as of now, I'd like to hear it actually! Let me know why. After seeing him as Khal Drogo (who he played MAGNIFICENTLY), I am going to love him as Conan.

The poster has elements from previous media photos and clips already seen, but has been put together in a very symmetrical and symbiotic way. Save for that sword hilt which I don't really like in it, everything else resonates. Quite like it!

It's all the rage to have floating embers and ash in the air for posters these days isn't it? HP7 is doing it too for example. Anyway, I am looking forward to the movie - they've sold me a long time ago. We can all use some more villainous Stephen Lang!!

Look for CONAN THE BARBARIAN on August 19.

WATCH: New TV Spot For CONAN THE BARBARIAN!

Be sure to watch this in HD - cause it looks wicked! Love the new shots we're seeing here from Lionsgate. More of the verbal interaction between Conan (Jason Momoa) and Khalar (Stephen Lang) which helps present a bit more of their characters.

The whole thing is looking much more epic with this glimpse!

CONAN THE BARBARIAN opens August 19 in S3D!

See: New CONAN THE BARBARIAN Character Posters!

Hey guys - check the new CONAN THE BARBARIAN posters!

Here's the movie's synopsis:
The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back this Summer. Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan’s exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film.

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Deftly adapted from the original works of Robert E. Howard and faithful to the mythology and psychology of his iconic character, CONAN THE BARBARIAN stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Saïd Taghmaoui and Ron Perlman. The film is directed by Marcus Nispel, and written by Thomas Dean Donnelly & Joshua Oppenheimer and Sean Hood.

MUST WATCH: CONAN THE BARBARIAN First Trailer!

Yes! It's finally here. Jason Momoa stars as Conan in the Lionsgate fantasy action movie CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Momoa is pitted against (literally I suppose) Stephen Lang (AVATAR) who plays the double bladed, parallel scimitar wielding Khalar Zym.

Here's the movie's synopsis:
The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back this Summer. Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination - in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds - Conan's exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film.

Movie Details:

Studio: Lionsgate
Cast: Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang
Release: August 19, 2011

I like the trailer. Wasn't sure what to expect from the limited exposure we have been given thus far, but I have been impressed. Will they deliver a better product than the Schwarzenegger led effort did? Thus far, I think so.

Have a look:

Must See: New Poster For CONAN THE BARBARIAN 3D

Have a look at the new motion poster from Lionsgate (wait for it to load - warning there is a sound component, you can mute it via a click under the image). Pretty darn cool.

CONAN THE BARBARIAN 3D is being directed by Marcus Nispel (FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) and stars Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan and Rachel Nichols.

Storyline: Follows Conan's quest across the continent of Hyboria, as he fights to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.

Just wait a little while for the poster to load as it is somewhat graphics intensive and I think they're website is taking a hit:

Stay tuned for more when I get it! In the meantime, you can check out their new official website that just went live: www.conanthebarbarianin3d.com

New CONAN 3D Promo Poster! Fake Or Real?

**UPDATE: Oct 1 - I just heard from a trusted source and he says this poster is fake. So take from that what you will.

Hey guys - Steve at
Collider just scored a cool new promo poster for Lionsgate's CONAN 3D. Similar to what we have seen before, the studio has simply added the cast names and the 3D suffix.

CONAN 3D is a conversion and I don't know what company has been tapped to do it... YET.
The studios make the conversion companies sign NDAs so that nothing gets out to the public. To me, if you have hired one of the top three conversion companies, you should be proud of that and actually advertise it to alleviate at least some of the fears of a bad conversion job.

Can't wait to see Stephen Lang in yet another villain role as dang it, he does a bang up job doesn't he? :-)

CONAN Casting Rumors: Stephen Lang And Rachel Nichols!

Jim here. According to LatinoReview, apparently Stephen Lang (you all know him right? A little character known as Col. Quaritch in AVATAR?) has been offered the role of Khalar Singh who happens to be the main villain in CONAN.

Khalar Singh's character was described last fall as: In his 40s to 50s, Asian or Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Mongol, Turkish, or Persian, open to all ethnicities; commanding in size and manner, a warlord and formidable warrior, brilliant, cruel, weathered and tanned by the many campaigns he has waged and won. He is driven in his quest to find the Queen of Acheron and has been building an empire to do so. His goal is to find the Queen whose blood will bring life to the demonic minions of Acheron while making himself king of this hellish power. With this power, Khalar will protect his legacy against the onslaught of master sorcerer, Thoth-Amon so that his weak son, Fariq may rule after his death. While riding into a Cimmerian village to recruit his old comrade, Corin, his large collection of mercenaries slaughters them to the last soul when Corin refuses to join them. The village’s only survivor was young Conan. When Khalar’s search has finally narrowed to the likely discovery of the queen at a monastery of female monks, he also learns Conan is older and hungry for revenge.

The deal is not final yet and negotiations are still underway.

Same goes for the role of Tamara. LatinoReview also says that Rachel Nichols (Scarlett in G.I. JOE) has been approached. Seems that Nichols beat out Jessica Lucas (CLOVERFIELD) and Sarah Shahi (THE L WORD).

Tamara's character is 18 to 24 years old, Caucasian or Middle Eastern, open to all ethnicities; beautiful, studious, correct, a novitiate of a Greek influenced monastery. A master of martial arts, she has been trained to be the Queen’s servant, bodyguard and best friend. She and many other female bodyguards to the queen have been in hiding most of their lives because of the curse of Acheron, which would take the queen’s life to bring alm
ost immortal power to its king. When Khalar Singh, a powerful warlord with ambitions to become the king of Acheron, storms the monastery and captures all of the novitiates, she is separated from Ilira, the one she must protect. With all of her strength and will, Tamara is determined to find and rescue her. She finds herself in league with Conan because of a mutual need to find Khalar Singh. She is not in the least intimidated by Conan’s size or grim demeanor and their alliance eventually blossoms into something that surprises them both.

LatinoReview also broke the news that Leo Howard (Young Snake Eyes in G.I. JOE) has been cast as the "Young Conan" too. Seems they have a pretty good source in the Millenium organization! :-)

More when we get it!
CONAN is shaping up quite nicely I think. Lang will bring a lot of power and intensity to the villain role. I have always been a huge fan of his.

Of course CONAN going S3D is still a rumor, but I am too thrilled to not cover it... so it better happen!
