The banner that was seen at the San Diego Comic Con has now been released in higher resolution and it is gorgeous. The banner shows the chronology of what takes place in the final chapter of THE HOBBIT's trilogy of movies starting with Smaug's rage on Laketown to the huge final battle sequences.

Here is the movie's storyline: THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. Once upon a time... Maleficent had wings; but they were lost - and we don't know why. I'm assuming the full trailer that is being released tomorrow may shed more light on the matter, or more mystery. Perhaps on the play on the trope of angels losing their wings as punishment for breaking dogma.
The movie is really starting to fill out very well. I can see the production value Disney is putting into the movie as the marketing material is being released and I think we're in for a rather interesting ride. Stay tuned for the trailer tomorrow!

It's an impressive poster hinting at what is in store for us in the movie. Can't wait!
Here's the storyline for the movie: In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS hits theaters on May 17 (May 15 in IMAX).
The images we're seeing from the first installment of The Hobbit are mesmerizing! And Peter Jackson's band continues to play on with four more banners on parade. And, to no surprise, I love them. Each reveals an important segment of the first movie THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and revels in their respective color schemes. I'll have some more please.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Cool isn't it. And you really get to see a few cool things regarding The Hobbit in this scrolling montage of images. Warner Bros. and Peter Jackson have been rolling out some great Hobbit goodness recently. Now there's a silver lining for those on iOS devices... EW has non-flash version. It doesn't have the cool magnifying glass, but you can zoom in as far as your device will take you too examine the image. Also if you're on a computer you can zoom in on the image as well.

WOW! I might appreciate art a bit more then others who don't have a mother who's an artist, but this work is clearly appreciable to all in my mind. All the material in this post is from the official site of LIFE OF PI.
The banners are amazing and utilize a watercolor effect to accomplish a wonderful dreamlike state and a testament to the care and attention that LIFE OF PI is getting from all connected with it. Just look at the detail in the boat alone!
Ang Lee is raising filmmaking to the art it should be and I am thrilled to see it come together like this.
Ang Lee is shooting in native 3D with Cameron | Pace Group's 3D rigs and cameras. Clearly the visuals will be outstanding!

There is no official storyline for the movie as of yet, so here is the book's description from Amazon: The son of a zookeeper, Pi Patel has an encyclopedic knowledge of animal behavior and a fervent love of stories. When Pi is sixteen, his family emigrates from India to North America aboard a Japanese cargo ship, along with their zoo animals bound for new homes.
The ship sinks. Pi finds himself alone in a lifeboat, his only companions a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra, and Richard Parker, a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi, whose fear, knowledge, and cunning allow him to coexist with Richard Parker for 227 days while lost at sea. When they finally reach the coast of Mexico, Richard Parker flees to the jungle, never to be seen again. The Japanese authorities who interrogate Pi refuse to believe his story and press him to tell them “the truth.” After hours of coercion, Pi tells a second story, a story much less fantastical, much more conventional–but is it more true?

I like how Marvel is tackling what could be more mundane marketing that most movies (wow alliteration) measure out to the masses. But I don't find these banners to be mundane at all.
I especially like Hawkeye's and Captain America's posters - they're quite artistic.
Anyway, definitely still love the logo. More when I get it!
