MUST WATCH: New TRON Epilogue Clip Entitled TRON: THE NEXT DAY - FLYNN LIVES REVEALED!

This is actually very cool. Definitely a must watch for TRON fans! The clip supposedly is included on the upcoming disc releases for TRON LEGACY.

This clip will probably be removed VERY quickly so enjoy while you can online.

The teaser gives us an idea of where the TRON braintrust is taking us next on this journey. Be careful, there are minor spoilers at the end of the clip.

Want it all on disc? The DVD and Blu-ray are coming April 5. :-)

New TRON LEGACY IMAGES - Countdown To Trailer Is On...

Jim here. Disney has released two TRON LEGACY images through its Facebook page and will continue to do so every day until the new trailer shows in front of ALICE IN WONDERLAND this weekend. So far we have two new images and they are below - have a look!

This should be the same trailer that was shown to advanced audiences in select theaters through their viral site Flynn Lives.

We are still some time away until the movie hits our 3D screens (Dec 17) so Disney's marketing machine is only getting warmed up! I expect many more surprises in the coming months.

TRON LEGACY Trailer Screened: Event Did Not Live Up To Expectations...

Jim here. Unfortunately it sounds as though Disney's TRON LEGACY event at various cities was a let down. Many were expecting an AVATAR Day type event where there was a significant chunk of footage shown. Instead it was a new trailer, but with some previously seen material. And a t-shirt.

Keep in mind however that this is NOT speaking of the quality of the movie which seemed to all to be top notch!

The trailer was not quite two minutes long according to some fans (others say 2.5 minutes) and not worth the wait. It was only screened ONCE. They had to check their electronics at the door and many shook their heads as to why after the event. One complained he spent more time in the line up to retrieve his cellphone than watching the trailer!

We waited for over half an hour past the screening til 2pm...everyone very excited to see new footage etc. Were itold how lucky we were and that we were privileged to be the first audience worldwide to see this...and then they showed a 2 min trailer that I have already read about on this site or others (flynns son, visits flynn's arcade, finds den behind tron machine, gets zapped into teh system, then lots of quick shots of key characters and a few lightcycles racing, then coming soon title - thats pretty much it. Either something technical screwed up and they couldn't show us the supposed preview scenes from the movie (we were expecting around 10-15mins for our trouble, such as Avatar Day?) or that was it, just the trailer. Audience was confused / p*ssed off and left, no cheers, whoops or anything. Be very interested to see what NY and LA get. If the same treatment then I think Disney are treating a loyal Tron fanbase like muppets.

I don't know if it was only for the screening, but a fan said he was from Toronto and another from Boston. ALL FOR A TRAILER THAT WILL BE ONLINE IN A WEEK. It was really indignant of them to play this event like it was something more. Checking cell phones at the door?! It was in 3d IMAX what could they have filmed? An insanely blurry image? Afterwards there was a mob of people trying to get their phones It was utter chaos. I spent more time in line for my cell phone than I did the trailer. I walked up to the studio representatives and told them how disappointed the fans were at the event. They thought it had been clear it was just the trailer. But no where in the sign up stuff did it say that. We cheered to have it shown again but there was nothing. They herded us out. I did get a 'Flynn Lives' t-shirt which was cool. But overall an insane disappointment in fandom. If you are going to put that much work at least show SOMETHING else besides a trailer. Don't feel like any of you missed out. Cause you didn't.

So mixed results, but mainly disappointing. I did not see the trailer so I can't comment on the content at all, but it sounds as though it could be worthwhile if I were seeing another movie right afterward. And, of course - I love a good t-shirt just like the next guy :-)

Could have been handled better by Disney Marketing though. Not sure why they wanted this viral. Hopefully there are much bigger and better things planned in the coming months. They have to be careful though - if you cry wolf too many times, audiences may not show up for the real deal! :-) Just sayin'.

TRON LEGACY Viral Site Announces Exclusive Events This Weekend!!

Jim here. The creative folks over at Disney have taken a page from the Fox marketing playbook and are hosting exclusive TRON LEGACY events this weekend. Odds are it is a special screening of small segments of the movie - ala AVATAR Day.

New TRON LEGACY Trailer Coming On February 24?!

Jim here. Some viral marketing is hitting the Interwebs lately for Disney's much anticipated TRON LEGACY.

Several people (via ComingSoon) have received through snail mail a weird looking star with a note attached giving the URL FlynnLives.com/ZeroHour. Alex Billington of FirstShowing calculated the zero hour to be February 24th at 2:30pm Pacific Time.

We are not too sure exactly what will be coming at the "zero hour" but some sort of trailer seems to be the most likely candidate.

I would wager that the trailer or media will be present at the Zero Hour site. Interesting. I am not one to go all nuts over puzzles and such created by marketers, but this movie has my attention - no doubt about it!

The TOP TEN Of 2010! Jim's S3D Movie Guide...

Jim here. Here is my 2010 S3D Movies Guide for you! I waited a while to ensure I captured all the recent S3D conversion announcements!

Here are my most anticipated S3D movies for 2010:

1. TRON LEGACY - Ok guys, I think this movie is the real deal. It has the budget, an existing fan base and comes from a quality S3D shop so my hopes are high. Word from my sources is the S3D in TRON LEGACY rivals AVATAR's. So if the story is half good, we should be in for a wickedly good time! More when I get it.
2. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS P1 - When Warner confirmed our scoop about which tentpoles will be converted to 3D, I was thrilled to hear one of them was HP. S3D is perfect for this movie series and too bad we had to wait until the last book to fully experience it! I think the wait will be worth it though, and here's hoping that the conversion is done with care and artistry.
3. ALICE IN WONDERLAND - Yes, another conversion. I have not seen how much the tech has progressed since last year, but one would assume leaps have been made. Again, this is a Disney property and as such, the S3D should be of top caliber. In my opinion, Tim Burton has the mind to capture a great representation of the classic children's tale. Can the conversion hold up to the scrutiny? We will see soon enough. I am looking forward to seeing Depp tackle yet another "un-tackle-able" character and do so marvelously.
4. YOGI BEAR - This may be the surprise of the year and I am calling it my dark horse selection. I think the upside for this movie is tremendous and I am really looking forward to it. The only stumbling block is that it is being released on the same day as TRON LEGACY. Hopefully the 3D screen situation has been corrected enough to allow two concurrent wide releases. Keep an eye on this one! Look for more info coming soon...
5. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON - Another favorite of mine that may become victim of the 3D screen shortage. It will be fighting with ALICE and TITANS for screens soon and that is not good for anyone. My feeling is that DRAGON will be similar in appeal to KUNG FU PANDA last year, but with additional 3D premium box office. It will be a good movie - you can count on it.
6. TOY STORY 3 - Guys, this could be higher in the list but I am failing to get a good grasp on what to expect from Pixar this time around. Sure, it is a proven franchise with top notch characters, but what are they doing differently? Will it be the same old, same old? I expect a great story from them, don't get me wrong. But will the experience be that much more than TS 1 & 2? I hope so. Right now, I am looking forward to CARS 2 (next summer) much more than TOY STORY 3.
7. CLASH OF THE TITANS - Now this is VERY interesting! A S3D conversion done in the knick of time to capture more box office and improve the story immersion. We will see VERY soon just how successful Warner Bros will be with this decision. Personally, I think it is the right decision but a little late. My fingers are crossed that they chose the right conversion company and that the dollars are being spent to do this right. The visuals are SPECTACULAR! I just don't know about the story. TITANS could wind up moving up in my list, but I just can't justify a higher rating right now before seeing the conversion either.
8. SHREK FOREVER AFTER - This movie is bound to EXPLODE at the box office. Seriously. But I can't say as though I am dying to see it either. The world can't get enough Shrek, and the power of the franchise + 3D premiums will send it to the box office stratosphere. But personally I rank Shrek at 8 because, well, there are 7 other movies I would rather see this year. It is as simple as that.
9. SAW VII - The last SAW was a disappointment. I think S3D is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered to revive the franchise and if it is done correctly could really turn 3D horror on its disembodied head. There is an HUGE opportunity here for Lionsgate. I see this becoming the must see for Halloween this fall, no question.
10. MEGAMIND - Dreamworks Animation may have fooled me on this one! It could be higher on my list, but it is not getting the attention that DRAGONS and SHREK are getting this year. Definitely a top ten selection, but I can't move it higher just now.

Honorable Mention (in no order):
STEP UP 3-D - A nice fanbase for this genre movie will pick up more with the S3D.
ALPHA AND OMEGA - A great voice cast helps out this first venture (of a three pic deal) between Lionsgate and an Indian based animation company (Crest Animation Studios).
CATS & DOGS: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE (Jul 30) - Families will drive box office for this movie; there will be plenty who cannot resist the cat and dog antics of this live action comedy.
GUARDIANS OF GA'HOOLE (Sep 24) - Some distinguished voices in this cast (Hugo Weaving, Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush and Sam Neill) will help propel this animation.
THE LEGEND OF SPYRO (Oct 25) - Another dragon focused animation for 2010. It will not do HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON numbers, but will certainly hold its own.
RAPUNZEL (Nov 24) A classic Disney tale told through S3D animation. This fairy tale's history alone should be enough alone to capture the hearts of audiences everywhere.

Could Be In Trouble:
PIRANHA 3-D (Aug 27) - I was really anticipating this movie! I hate to break this to you but I am not hearing good things about this production. I am a huge Alexandre Aja fan so I detest what I am hearing, but the word is that it is campy and the S3D is not up to par. However, I am speaking through the words of others so I am respectfully waiting to see it myself and review it. Until then, I hope this conversion is up to at least par - I would hate to see S3D get a bad name because of a shoddy effort. You know?

JEFF BRIDGES, winner of both a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award and now an Oscar nominee for his performance in CRAZY HEART, stars in TRON: LEGACY, a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that ís unlike anything ever captured on the big screen.

Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (BRIDGES), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Together, they embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning and exceedingly dangerous cyber universe.

The film hits U.S. theaters Dec. 17, 2010.

New TRON LEGACY Poster From Disney!

Jim here - Disney has released another image for TRON LEGACY and it looks stunning. I kinda like the yellow over the blue myself.

This movie lists at the top of my err... list, of 2010 MUST SEEs. I have been hearing nothing but rave reviews from my sources and have been told that the 3D is unrivaled in it. Yes, that includes AVATAR.

Can the story hold up to the promise though? Time will tell. It has tough shoes to fill with an older generation's love affair with the original. It will be a spectacle though guys. No doubt. Out in theaters December 17.

EXCLUSIVE: What To Expect From AVATAR's Blu-ray *AND* Can TRON LEGACY Blow AVATAR's 3D Out Of The Theater??

**UPDATE: Jan 15 - To clear up a question on timing, it looks like it is going to be standard protocol for release. I heard back from my source and as far as he knows, first up will indeed be the theatrical version with the potential for some added extensions (perhaps as standalone components). And YES there will be a "director's cut" or extended cut and this is probably coming later if they don't release up front. This was never in doubt. Don't forget that there is tons of room on a Blu-ray!

Jim here. I just got a rather cool inside update from the very same source who gave me the video clip of AVATAR's footage from Comic Con 2009. Time to mull over some rumors and clarifications direct from one of my top, top sources!

- AVATAR 2 will definitely be helmed by James Cameron and no one else, contrary to rumors saying otherwise. The story arcs that are being developed for potential sequels are EPIC. More info coming soon!

- What's on AVATAR's Blu-ray disc? It will obviously be SPECTACULAR! The best of its kind with in depth features, extended and deleted scenes - the movie will be much longer because of it. We know he left a lot of scenes off the theatrical cut to make length commitments. Further, most of these additional scenes will be in the first half of the movie, for example future Earth. Finally it will also clear up a few plot holes like how Tsu'tey got his headset towards the end of the movie, etc.

- What about 2010? What S3D movie should pique our interest the most? Two words: TRON LEGACY - Believe it or not, and I find it hard to believe, but internal word is that TRON LEGACY's 3D will blow AVATAR away. Those were his words. This coming from a guy who is connected and knows a great deal from the inside out about AVATAR. I am struggling with trying to figure out just how TRON plans on topping AVATAR in 3D. The concept art for TRON 2 is incredible apparently. Expect it in our theaters December 17.

Because of what he is saying about TRON LEGACY, I am placing the Disney movie at the top of my MUST SEE 3D 2010 movies guide - look for this soon!

You know I have the best sources on the planet for AVATAR - therefore, through transitivity, I have the best sources for the sequels :-) And believe me, the exclusives will be coming soon enough. Think I am kidding? Lightstorm will be hard at work soon for AVATAR 2 as the potential turnaround is only 2 years! Much of the pioneering work has been done with the original movie and the sequels will enjoy the fruits of their labor. I don't have to say it, but - STAY TUNED. :-)

3D Quick Updates: TRON LEGACY, TOY STORY and DARK COUNTRY

Jim here. Got some quick updates for you from the 3D world:

1. TRON LEGACY: Brand spankin' new trailer - check it out!



2. TOY STORY: Brand spankin' new trailer for TOY STORY 1 & 2 - Two 3D movies for the price of one for a limited 2 week engagement starting October 2.

3. DARK COUNTRY: I am damn disappointed in Sony for shelving the 3D distribution for this movie. This Thomas Jane project looks awesome and to pull the mat out from under everyone like this sucks big time. I have not heard why Sony has decided to do this, but I am shaking my head. Here is a new trailer for the movie which now seems destined for direct to DVD:
