Update On The Kickstarter For COCAINE SLEEPOVER: If You Want To Help Out - Now's The Bloody Time To Do It!

As you may know, I'm trying to help get an independent movie off the ground for a 3D horror-comedy COCAINE SLEEPOVER (this is not the project that I am working on with Phobia Films) and it seems Shane and Daniella have plateaued around 10-13% in the last few weeks. They are only seeking to hit $80k which isn't a lot really considering what they have to get done and the slice that Kickstarter and Amazon keep.

COCAINE SLEEPOVER is a grindhouse style horror with solid tongue in cheek. Looks hilarious! For more info about how to support the project, click here.

So if you would like more information on how to help make a cool 3D horror-comedy happen be sure to check out their Kickstarter project and pledge support for some very cool gifts. They only have 10 more days to go to collect another $69k or the project doesn't get funded at all. I'm pretty selective with any project that I help get the word out on, so you can count on a professional movie getting made if the micro-lend is successful.

The guys at COCAINE SLEEPOVER have decided to push the limits of practical, hands on marketing and take their campaign to Times Square and other New York hangouts - and you can follow them with this new video of their exploits. Love how they are putting everything they have into this - everything to get the movie done. They are far from giving up!

I truly hope they are successful because it looks like a blast of a movie to get made!

Check out the video:

Remember to support the project if you like what they are offering! You can see the original video for the movie right here.

Love 3D Movies? Want To get Involved? How About A 70's Inspired Horror Film! COCAINE SLEEPOVER Launches On Kickstarter...

Ever thought about getting involved with a 3D movie production but not quite sure about the best way of going about doing that? Kickstarter is an innovative approach to crowd source funding and it works particularly well with independent movies.

COCAINE SLEEPOVER is utilizing Kickstarter to raise funds for "A '70s-inspired horror film about a girly sleepover that meets a cocaine rage. Scream queens look out: it's Gore Whore Daniella Pineda!"

Its going to be a full length feature movie hot in native 3D that reimagines '70s grindhouse, with the campy absurdism of Peter Jackson's Dead Alive. Think Bridesmaids meets Tarantino in 3D.

I'm liking the project and the talent that's attached so much, that I am working with the creators to help get this thing made. I think it looks amazing so far and so do the fine people at 21st Century 3D - they too are teaming up with director Shane Duckworth and actress Daniella Pineda to make it happen. 21st are providing a 3D beam splitter, 3D monitors, specialized matching cinema lenses for 3D, and most important, talent and over 20 years of experience in 3D production.

Personally I think the whole effort will be worth it. The end result is going to look fantastic and it sounds as though this independent satirical horror movie will kick it up a notch to a whole new level.

Shane Duckworth is both a director and cinematographer and has worked on major Hollywood films like TERMINATOR SALVATION, BROTHERS and OBSERVE AND REPORT. He co-directed the award winning movie WITHOUT A CROWD and shot the highly praised album trailer for Sleigh Bells' REIGN OF TERROR. He is now shooting for PROJECT RUNWAY and has just opened Brooklyn Movie Works with partner Jon Cooper.

Daniella Pineda is an up-and-coming writer-actress and is taking over the Internet. Jezebel says, "You Need to Be Watching This Woman's Videos!" She has been featured in everything from Ed Burns' NEWLYWEDS to tons of College Humor videos, including GIRLS WATCH PORN, TOO, as well as Amy Schumer's new show on Comedy Central, and she is currently shooting for MTV.

The cast members include: Evan Gregory, Jason Selvig, Ana Kayne and Lyle Friedman.

Here are the crew members:
Animation, Special Effects and Art: Masha Gvozdov
Camera OP and Stills Photographer: Jon Cooper
Production Coordinator: Christina Woolston
Set Design and Art: Erin Charest
Sound: Greg Swiatlowski
Music: Ahmad Jean-Loius and Clare Farris, Paul Rivers Bailey, and Elliott Klein
Grip/Electric/Set Rock Stars: Yair Tygiel, Paul Rivers Bailey, and Eric Klein

But to really get a feeling for the project, you have to check out the introduction for the Kickstarter project:

So what do you think? I definitely want you to consider this project as a way to get involved with a 3D movie and not only that, but a movie that I personally think will work. They are not asking for a lot of money here because so much is being donated to the greater cause, and the professionalism is going to be there for this horror comedy.

A perfect way to get involved in 3D. So check out the various rewards that are available for each donation level (you could even be a Producer on this thing!) and get excited! I know I am.

First Look: A VERY HAROLD AND KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS Photo

After HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY (HKEFGB) had a half decent return (it made $43.5m) on investment it seems the franchise lives on. In 3D this time! We'll see how it goes.

I did love the marketing for HKEFGB with the create a voice answering message from President Bush. It was HILARIOUS.

Kal Penn and John Cho do a wonderful job in the lead roles for these films.

Here's the storyline for A VERY HAROLD AND KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS:
After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.

Sounds like typical Harold and Kumar fare - so in other words a pretty good time. AND Danny Trejo will be in it. I'll be checking it out on November 4.

ZOMBIELAND 2 Plans A Superstar Cameo AND A Plot Morsel

Got some ZOMBIELAND 2 info for you regarding some upcoming cameo action! Seems that Ruben Fleischer is interested in nabbing Harrison Ford or Anthony Hopkins for a comedic intersection in the sequel along the same vein as what Bill Murray did for the original (which everyone loved!). The parellel with Hopkins is obvious what with his character Hannibal eating humans without the need of being a zombie in the first place! :-)

The info comes from Bloody Disgusting who also claim that the script calls for "a lead villain with comedic roots, while Tallahassee (played by Woody Harrelson) will find himself going head-to-head with a 'hunky rival'."

So far only Jesse 'facebook' Eisenberg has signed on for ZOMBIELAND 2, but you can expect some more actors attaching themselves soon.

I was thrilled with the original movie - so of course I am ecstatic that the sequel will be in native 3D. Fleischer was quoted as saying: "When it comes to 3D, I feel pretty strongly that you should shoot it in camera. I feel like it just looks so much better. If you're going to make a 3D movie, go ahead and make a 3D movie. I would definitely, if we do 'Zombieland 2,' make it in 3D and want to shoot it in 3D."

Gotta love it! More when I get it...
