MUST WATCH: First Trailer For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Usually I'm restrained in my early comments about X-men movies as I've been let down, but also thrilled with past releases. This time though with X-MEN: APOCALYSE - wow. Director Bryan Singer has seemingly stepped up his game here and improved upon what was already a great movie in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Note the character development especially in the trailer. I love the correlations they assert and while I'm growing very tired of superhero movies that present the end of the world, this looks like a very entertaining shot at it.

APOCALYSE stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy.

Here's the synopsis for the movie:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is slated for release on May 18, 2016. More when I get it - and I'm really looking forward to see what's next for marketing.

Must Watch: New BTS Featurettes For X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Here's a couple of new featurettes for you and after that last trailer I'm sure you're itching for more. The first one shows Magneto retrieving his helmet from his previous captor's vault and the second focuses on the early '70's wardrobe for some airport scenes and Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique character.

For me BTS scenes are like the appetizer before the meal. I really enjoy seeing directors at work and their crews. Love how Singer came up with the idea for Fassbender's Magneto breaking into a vault to reclaim his helmet! Much better than making a new one.

The BTS also revealed some of the native 3D camera rigging by 3ality Technica and the 3D tent village where the stereographer (my friend John Harper) reviews the stereo shots. Check out the screen caps I made at the end of the post!

So have a watch!

Here's the storyline for the movie:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST opens on May 23 in native 3D.

New Viral Campaign For X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Magneto Assassinated JFK

Spoiler warning! For the movie, not who killed John F. Kennedy. Unless... No.

But we do have a viral video making its way through the interwebs depicting Magneto as the true assassin of JFK by altering the trajectory of Oswald's 2nd bullet on that fateful day in Texas. The video names the event as "The Bent Bullet" theory and you can read more about it here.

This movie is looking MASSIVE and I'm loving it already just thinking about what goodies director Bryan Singer and his amazing cast have in store for us!

MUST WATCH: First Trailer For X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST !!

What's the first thing you think about while watching this trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST? Probably the star power. Stop and look who is in this thing: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, and Halle Berry - directed by Bryan Singer!

Top that off with some of the X-Men of stereoscopic 3D talent in John Harper (Stereographer) and Ben Gervais (3D production systems supervisor), both of whom I met at the Toronto International Stereoscopic 3D Conference in September. These guys know their stuff. I'm looking forward to talking with them again in the coming months to give you guys a look into how they work, especially for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

**SPOILER: New Movie Clip From PROMETHEUS!

Who's spoiled already? Want some more? The marketing team at Fox are making sure those of you who are on the fence on seeing PROMETHEUS (where are these people?) will have something more to think about.

I watched it. I more or less have to to be able to comment on it, but I can tell these things so you can make your own mind up:
  • It's short. A little over 30 seconds.
  • No creatures.
  • No visual spoilers.
  • Intense banter between David (Michael Fassbender) and Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron).
  • The discussion reveals several things about how these two characters interact in general and an enigmatic statement by David.
I was ok after seeing it - no worries on my end about ruining my viewing experience in theaters. Your call and YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Further notice - do NOT click through to PrometheusForum.net as there is a MEGA spoiler posted there with the video.

Here's the movie's storyline:
Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus' he creates a groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

PROMETHEUS opens on June 8. The movie was shot on 3ality Technica rigs.

What MORE Scenes From PROMETHEUS? Here's Another Featurette!

Holy Weyland overload Batman! As if we haven't had enough exposure to new scenes in Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS, here's another round... Keep in mind that the movie still has over a month to go! At this rate we should be able to edit together a good little story ourselves. I'm sure some enterprising fanboy will do just that.

Here's the movie's storyline:
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Keeping in mind there are some more minor spoilers in this thing - here is the most recent featurette entitled CREATIONS from Fox's mega tentpole this summer:

PROMETHEUS opens June 8.

MUST WATCH: Marketing Clip For Michael Fassbender's David in PROMETHEUS!!

Gotta love this one. Michael Fassbender is nailing the android don't you think?

The background "skulls" add a bit of uneasiness to the whole presentation and of course unwrapping such a thing and having it wake up is unsettling in the least.

Fassbender can cry on a dime. Outstanding actor. I believe we are in for a special performance from this man as David. Much more than meets the eye I would wager.

Here's the official storyline for PROMETHEUS:

This type of marketing is brilliant because obviously we are not seeing footage from the movie itself yet we are getting compelling arguments to take the time and money to go see it. Go and see it we shall - in droves!

PROMETHEUS opens June 8.

Watch: PROMETHEUS Press Conference In Paris

This is a fairly interesting press conference in Paris where Ridley Scott is joined by Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace to discuss PROMETHEUS.

Here's the storyline for the movie for you again:
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. I won't spoil anything in it for you, but there are candid questions posed from the audience as well so it's not a canned marketing event. Check it out!

Thanks for the heads up jonnop! PROMETHEUS opens June 8.

Apparently a website called Project Prometheus has the the hidden high res photo and by adding "/eridu" to the end of the site's top level URL you get prompted for a password which those intrepid fans set out to uncover. Which they did: The password is "tell abu shahrain".

Now this portal is more than likely also host to many other images and clips and we just need to find the passwords. Care to try? :-)

UPDATED! MUST SEE: New PROMETHEUS Photo And Final Teaser Trailer!

**SAME DAY UPDATE: I've added the third and final teaset trailer below!

Excited yet? Ridley Scott is set to drop his trailer for PROMETHEUS tomorrow!

Many of you may have seen the bootleg version that is bouncing around the interwebs lately but I won't be posting it as quite literally the copy sucks. You need to see this thing in true HD! I started watching it and thought to myself: "Why am I ruining this trailer - I want to see it perfectly the first time because there is only ONE first time."

And so we wait. But it will be worth it, just as it was with THE HOBBIT we saw yesterday.

This photo of Michael Fassbender hits home for me - his face really does look androidish. The 'cave' he is in certainly seems like it was mechanically mined, like the 'chunnel' under the English Channel.

Here's the final teaser trailer for PROMETHEUS! You can see the first two right here.

Be sure to check out the trailer tomorrow right here! So far the trailer previews look AMAZING, especially the surface shots!!

MUST SEE: First Look Images From Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS!!

Hello. Suffice to say we have been waiting anxiously for this moment - the first of many in the slow marketing review of Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS set in the classic ALIEN universe.

So take a look at these stunning photos. I want to hear what you guys think you are seeing in them! Clearly the first shot is of Charlize Theron and Idris Elba on the bridge of Prometheus. Look at that amazing shot of Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace in their suits!!

Here's the official storyline for PROMETHEUS:
Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

And here's some of the star-studded cast principals:
Noomi Rapace as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, a character Rapace has likened to the Alien franchise's Ellen Ripley.
Charlize Theron as Meredith Vickers. Theron described the character as "a suit who slowly sheds that skin through the film". Further description: "a fortysomething, tough-but-sexy woman".
Michael Fassbender as David, an android.
Idris Elba as Captain Janek
Logan Marshall-Green as Holloway, Elizabeth's love interest.
Emun Elliot as Chance
Benedict Wong as Ravel

For all of over ongoing extensive coverage of all things PROMETHEUS, click here.

Oh man is this thing ever going to rock. What do you think of the first look?

Official PROMETHEUS Storyline Released. Ben Foster Joins Cast?

Well that was a short plot rumor and I'm glad I didn't waste my time or blow my expectations up by reading it. I hope you guys didn't either. It was a conscious decision on my part NOT to put it up on MarketSaw. Anyway - the whole thing is false and has been quashed by Fox.

There is a rather substantial rumor (via JoBlo) that Ben Foster is joining the cast of PROMETHEUS and if this is true I am elated. Ben Foster and Michael Fassbender are two of my current top actors working today and to have them both in the same film is immeasurable to me. JoBlo stated that it was confirmed, whatever that means. I haven't seen anything official yet.

Here's the official storyline:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

It's important to note that Scott is returning to SciFi largely in part because of 3D and James Cameron. After he saw AVATAR he no longer thought that everything had been done in the genre (which is why he stepped back from it). I personally am on the edge of my seat for this movie. This is one of the original masters at work here guys! Doesn't get much better than this. AND THIS CAST!! I am floored with the talent assembled for this thing.

Charlize Theron Lands PROMETHEUS!

I was hoping for her to land the part and she did. Charlize Theron will headline Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS sci-fi epic says Variety.

Theron will share screen time with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, both of whom are perfect for their parts IMO.

Theron is a great actor. Anyone who has seen MONSTER will attest to that. If she can bring that intensity to the role, than I think we have casting gold for PROMETHEUS.

PROMETHEUS Update: Michael Fassbender Signed And A New Release Date!

Perfect! Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) has got what so many search for: Screen presence. Ridley Scott has signed on Fassbender to star along side of Noomi Rapace (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) in his upcoming S3D sci-fi thriller PROMETHEUS.

Fassbender assumes the role of an android
and has been circling since last year according to THR. As reported earlier, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie are also considering the remaining large female part left on the table.

In further related news, Fox has moved the project from a March 2012 release to later in the year, June 8.

Wow - I am completely thrilled with this casting announcement!
Stay tuned for more when I get it...

Michael Fassbender Taking Up Villainy In SPIDER-MAN 3D?

I don't usually like to post on casting rumors as my thing is mainly the creativity behind projects. However (and this is a big however), this is SPIDER-MAN.

SPIDER-MAN has been and always will be my favorite of all the super heroes.
It has resonated with me since the early cartoons on TV - you know the ones that actually shared content with ROCKET ROBIN HOOD (which I think would make a darn good 3D live action adaptation!). So ANY decision made about the project and I am instantly tuned in. Even rumors.

Here is one such rumor (Showbiz 411): Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) is apparently in the midst of a delicious dilemma. It seems Marvel is after him for two different roles - Young Magneto in X MEN: FIRST CLASS -or- playing a villain in the upcoming SPIDER-MAN reboot (in 3D). As these projects are with different studios (Fox and Columbia respectively) it seems he cannot do both.

I am hoping he bites into the villain role because I love his acting chops and SPIDER-MAN would benefit immensely. I have heard many different opinions on what villain he should play, but as for me I still want The Lizard in this movie. My vote is for Dr. Curt Connors. Who do you think he should play if he indeed does sign on?
